What "Independent Banks" Actually Means

The 2-Bank is not a splitter. A single-output charger with a Y-adapter divides its amperage between connected batteries — two batteries get half the rated output each, and both banks move through charging stages together regardless of individual battery state. The Battery Tender® 2-Bank operates two entirely independent charging circuits: Bank 1 runs its own ISM algorithm at full 1.25 Amp; Bank 2 runs its own ISM algorithm at full 1.25 Amp. Each bank reads its own battery's state and responds accordingly. Bank 1 can be in bulk charge recovering a dead battery while Bank 2 is in float maintenance on a fully charged one — simultaneously, without interference.

ISM on Every Bank, Every Battery

Each bank independently runs the full 4-stage ISM algorithm:

• Initialization — Individual battery health check before current flows on that bank
• Bulk Charge — Full 1.25 Amp output to that battery restores depleted capacity
• Absorption — Current tapers for that battery individually as it approaches full charge
• Float Maintenance — That battery held at peak voltage 24/7 independently of all other banks

Compatible Battery Types and Sizes

Each bank: 12V lead-acid batteries from 14Ah to 80Ah. All lead-acid chemistries: flooded, AGM, gel cell, and sealed maintenance-free.

Automatic Temperature Compensation

Both banks automatically adjust charge voltage based on ambient temperature — each bank responding to the same environmental conditions and delivering the correct voltage to its battery. Correct charging in cold storage or summer heat, no manual adjustment required.
